Snowflake San Mateo
The Collective worked with Snowflake to furnish their 100,000 square foot workplace and Customer Experience Center in San Mateo, California. Advertised as a space to bring employees back to the office, the space aims to be a fun, safe, and productive environment for employees.

The project kicked off during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, which had a major influence on the space planning and furniture selections. Conference rooms were re-designed to be larger and optimized for video conferencing. Overall furniture aesthetic includes references to nature, natural materials, and snowy environments in a way that complements the overall architectural design. Ancillary furniture was playful and added visual interest to the space.
The space’s aesthetic is light and bright, with references to nature. It is unconventional and uplifting with a cool, modern lodge feel. Universally snow-themed, there are unexpected moments incorporated into the design that occur throughout the space, with the intent to create a sense of curiosity. Palettes are a layered mix of different textures and materiality. Finishes include “icy” inspired materials combined with color pops in various contrasting shades of branding colors.
This location includes a highly custom “Customer Experience Center” (CEC), a specialized suite within the larger office. Design of the CEC includes reception amenities, interactive digital experiences, lounges, dining areas with prep-kitchen, conference rooms, boardrooms, and a training room. “Instagram-able moments” were included to provide surprising, memorable, interactive elements that customers will want to share.
