As part of a recent strategic expansion, Electronic Arts (“EA”), a leading global entertainment company, acquired Metalhead Software, the developers behind the popular Super Mega Baseball franchise. To support their tight-knit, passionate team, EA set out to build a new office that would reflect the gaming studio’s brand personality.

The Collective collaborated with MMoser to design and furnish Metalhead’s new 19,420-square-foot office in Victoria, British Columbia. Our involvement in the project began with the design strategy and programming phase, through to the successful furniture installation, completed in May 2024. The workspace featured 50 Teknion upStage workstations, and various furnishing solutions with Studio TK and Gus Modern throughout 5 private offices, 5 conference rooms, 1 training room, 2 phone rooms, and 6 ancillary areas.

In addition, the Collective proudly partnered with EA and Turner Construction to install over 500 lineal feet of Teknion Altos. The installation featured a variety of wall panel options to meet the workplace needs of EA, including dual glazed acoustic glass, fabric and laminate panels, and markerboard facias. Altos was particularly highlighted where the solid facias were scribed to seamlessly incorporate an existing concrete column in the wall’s path.

Our project designers worked closely and diligently to fine-tune the finish palette, providing recommendations on compatible finishes, and curating furniture that matched the design package. On the project management side, careful oversight ensured a smooth transition as responsibilities shifted within the team.

The new EA Metalhead office truly lives up to its name, embracing an industrial aesthetic with bold reds and blacks throughout the space. The design also incorporates greys and warm woods, creating a home-like and cozy environment. This carefully crafted workspace not only supports the team’s expansion but also provides the flexibility to accommodate future growth and evolving needs.
