Exploratorium

When the Exploratorium relocated to a $220 million location at Pier 15, they took the opportunity to refresh their offices and common spaces. The Collective worked with EHDD Architecture, the Exploratorium facilities team, and even the staff members of the Exploratorium to complete the 330,000 square foot project.

The new design intent was to provide an environment that incorporated natural light, fresh air and panoramic bay views to foster a collaborative environment for the team. The workspace consists of over 400 scientists, artists, educators, exhibit developers, designers, and writers. The Exploratorium received LEED platinum certification and became the largest museum to operate at net-zero energy cost.
