Nacht & Lewis
Nacht & Lewis (N&L), a distinguished architectural firm, wanted to modernize their workspace after two decades. Partnering with The Collective’s Sacramento division and the design vision of Stephanie Smith, the team aimed to rejuvenate Nacht & Lewis’ office to reflect contemporary design principles while infusing the company's brand identity into every aspect of the environment.
The primary challenge was to refresh a space that had served Nacht & Lewis for 20 years, creating a setting that would not only reflect a modern aesthetic but also inspire creativity and collaboration. The firm sought to integrate the architectural motifs present on the exterior of their building into the interior workspace, necessitating bespoke solutions. The design needed to incorporate elements of movement and energy, nurturing a dynamic workplace culture.
Embracing the firm’s colors, we threaded their brand palette throughout the new architecture and furniture designs. By utilizing circular and cloud-like motifs in acoustic solutions and fabric patterns, we created a sense of continuity from the exterior to the interior. The office was transformed into a vivacious, modern environment through strategic placement of touchdown spaces and a new design library, which encouraged movement and interaction.
With 44 workstations, 5 collaboration areas, and a welcoming café, each space was meticulously planned. The design addressed the structural challenges of the building by ingeniously blending and hiding columns within the space planning.
Leveraging the support of Maharam, we provided Nacht & Lewis with the premium fabrics they envisioned for the Teknion Banqs seating. Special features included a unique butternut finish for the mailroom station cabinets and custom-fabric workstation pedestal cushions, echoing the firm's flair for bespoke design.
When unforeseen circumstances pushed back the project timeline, our project management services ensured a seamless adjustment. We reallocated furniture delivery to our warehouse, effectively preventing any additional storage costs for Nacht & Lewis, demonstrating our commitment to customer service and project efficiency.
The transformation led to a workspace brimming with energy and creativity. The new design not only facilitates productivity but also embodies the architectural expertise that Nacht & Lewis represents. Employees have embraced the new environment, which has become a cornerstone of the firm's identity.
