Conestoga College: Kitchener
The Kitchener - Downtown campus (also known as DTK) offers programs from the schools of Applied Computer Science & Information Technology, Workforce Development, and Creative Industries, to over 4000 students.
The Collective worked alongside DFY Studio to furnish Conestoga College’s interiors in the first new Mass Timber building in the Waterloo Region at 1 Young Street
Phase 1, encompassing the lobby and second floor, opened to students in January 2024, following the commencement of work in the previous October. The twelve classrooms and four quiet study areas included Teknion tables and seating.
The Collective has curated a diverse selection of ancillary furniture from reputable brands such as Teknion, Studio TK, Spec, Global, and Green Concept Furniture implemented in the basement, corridor, and open collaboration areas.
Every floor showcases exposed wood ceilings, columns, and beams. The result had blue hue color accents and natural finishes complemented by biophilic elements throughout the floors. The modern learning environment in this historic building features dedicated spaces for employees as well as various areas where students can socialize or study.
